Co-editing sheets

Alongside documents, Drive lets you create sheets — full spreadsheets you build and edit inside FireVue. Use the Create button in Drive and pick Sheet.

Real-time collaboration

Open the same sheet with your team and everyone edits at once. Changes appear live, and the avatars in the header show who else is in the sheet with you. There's one file, always current — no more budget_final_v3.xlsx doing the rounds by email.

If two people happen to type into the exact same cell at the same moment, the sheet settles on one value a moment later, once everyone stops typing. Everything else — different cells, different sheets — merges cleanly as you go.

Formulas and functions

Sheets ship with a full formula engine and over 500 functions, the same ones you know from Excel. Start a cell with = and go:

  • =SUM(A1:A10) to total a range
  • =VLOOKUP(...), =IF(...), =COUNTIF(...) for lookups and conditions
  • Text, date, statistical and financial functions

Formulas recalculate as your collaborators change the values they depend on, so a running total stays right while several people fill in the rows beneath it.

Working with your data

The toolbar covers the everyday things: number and currency formats, conditional formatting, data validation (drop-down lists in cells), filter and sort, find & replace, comments and notes, and multiple tabs at the bottom of the workbook.

Import and export

You can bring existing data in and take it back out again:

  • Import an .xlsx or .csv file into the open sheet — values, formulas and number formats come across. Everyone in the sheet sees the imported data immediately.
  • Export to .xlsx (the whole workbook) or .csv (the sheet you're on).

Sharing and access

Sheets live in Drive, so they follow the same permission model as every other file: people need edit access on the containing folder to open a sheet and change it.

💡 Tip: Sheets are ideal for budgets, guest counts, supplier lists, and anything where a number needs to add up while several people are still filling in the rows.
