The event lifecycle

An event doesn't have a single "publish" switch. Instead, its journey is shaped by a few settings — your dates, sign-up deadline, capacity, and waitlist. Here's how a typical event flows.

1. Set up

You create the event and fill in the details: form, pages, branding, price, and capacity. Its public page already exists, so you can preview it any time. See Create your first event.

2. Registration open

Once you share the link, people can sign up. Registration stays open until either:

  • your sign-up deadline passes, or
  • you reach your capacity.

If you've enabled a waitlist, people can still join it after you're full, and get a time-limited window to pay when a spot frees up. See Capacity, availability & waitlists.

3. Locking changes

You can choose to lock price-affecting changes after the sign-up deadline, so the numbers stay stable once registration closes.

4. Event day

Your start and end times define when the event runs. On the day, use the Terminal to check guests in.

5. After the event

Registration is closed and the event is effectively complete. Review who attended in Participants and dig into the numbers with Analytics.

💡 Tip: Nothing is locked in by default — until you set a deadline or hit capacity, you can keep editing and registration stays open.
